We have a strong focus on preparing children for school, helping them to become confident, competent life long learners. We follow the principles of  Te Whariki, the early childhood curriculum, as well as developing a unique programme, combining a good balance between child initiated play and structured activities. Children are able to extend their skills and knowledge based on their individual passions and interests.

Zumba with Ani: This term the wonderful Ani Prasad has been sharing her passion for fitness and dance with us. The children are developing their fitness, endurance, balance, co-ordination, flexibility and most importantly having fun through dance.

Music: Our music teacher Talita from Musical Stars teaches the children learn about tone, pitch, beat, and rhythm as well as about different musical instruments and the sounds they make.

Letterland: Is a unique phonics programme where each letter of the alphabet is represented by a carefully designed pictogram character. This is a multi-sensory programme, enabling all children to engage, no matter what their learning style.

Excursions: Provide us with the opportunity to explore the Central City and make the most of places such as Te Papa, Waitangi Park, The Botanical Gardens, Frank Kitts Park, Capital E and the Wellington Central Library. This provides children with the opportunity to form relationships with people and places, as well as to teach children about road rules and how to keep safe.

Transition to School Group

Children join our transition to school group 4-6 months before they start school. The focus for this group of children is to ensure that they have the independence and self-help skills needed for school, as well as a basic understanding of literacy and numeracy concepts, social skills and the ability to listen and pay attention at group times.

Holiday programme

Our holiday programme is driven by ideas from our children and their current interests. The programme runs between terms and both before and after Christmas (the preschool is only closed for a 2 week period). Our holiday programme is only open to the children currently enrolled at the Preschool. To see an example of our holiday programme, please click on the link below:
