Assessment for learning and documentation

Learning stories are our foundation for documenting the learning of our tamariki. Learning stories incorporate the strength’s, interests and passions of your tamariki and your whānau aspirations for learning. Kaiako include photographs and written interpretation of the experiences your tamaiti has been involved in, as well as competencies and dispositions towards learning. The New Zealand Early Childhood curriculum Te Whāriki is woven into all the stories and the ideas of Te Whatu Pōkeka.

Educa

At Capital City Preschool we use an app called educa to communicate the learning journey of each tamaiti with their whānau. Educa is also used to communicate our daily programme and important dates. Educa can be shared with your wider whānau. This is also a fabulous way for you to keep in touch with your Kaiako and be a part of the learning journey for your tamaiti as we love including your voice in their learning.

Because Educa is an online platform, we also provide each tamariki with a profile book which is a paper copy of their learning. Tamariki are able to access their profile book any time of the day. This is a lovely opportunity for tamariki to reflect on past learning experiences and share their learning with their Kaiako, peers and whānau.
