About Capital City Preschool
Capital City Preschool is a non-profit preschool in the heart of Wellington, providing education and care for preschool children aged 2.9-5 years.
Capital City Preschool is a non-profit preschool providing education and care for preschool tamariki aged 2.9-5 years, and we have been operating for almost 30 years.
We are licensed for 30 tamariki (children). To retain a dynamic learning environment we keep an average daily roll of 28 tamariki and the kaiako (teacher) ratio is 1:7.
We are open 50 weeks of the year from 8.00am to 5.30pm, and offer sessions finishing at 3pm, 4.15pm and 5.30pm.
Our team of qualified and experienced kaiako have knowledge and understanding of learning in the 21st Century to ensure we are growing thinkers and learners.
At Capital City Preschool we offer:
a unique pathways to school programme - the Thunderbirds
weekly music lessons, playball and fortnightly excursions to the local library. We also use ICT, and we have a strong emphasis on literacy.
a holiday programme - packed with excursions and activities (run at the same times as the school holidays)
excursions around the Wellington CBD
Holiday Programme
To keep with the primary school terminology, we divide our year into 4 terms plus school holidays. Our holiday programme provides a small glimpse into what it might look like to go to a school holiday programme, as well as activities our tamariki might enjoy if they were at home for the holidays.
