“They have learned so much, including writing their names, greater proficiency with numbers, and an improved understanding of the world around them”

Both of my daughters have attended Capital City Preschool recently. They have been so well cared for, learned so much and have been so happy at Preschool. They have formed close and warm relationships with the teachers, and made many friends with their peers, both of which have meant that they have looked forward to going to Preschool every day. They have learned so much, including writing their names, greater proficiency with numbers, and an improved understanding of the world around them and of how they are expected to behave as a responsible student and friend. They have had so many great experiences, including music classes, movement classes, outings to the library, Te Papa, Zealandia, the movies, parks, plays and musical shows. I have always been happy to drop them off at the start of the day, knowing that they will be cared for in a warm environment with so many enjoyable and stimulating activities. And they have always still had smiles on their faces when I pick them up at the end of the day too!

We feel so lucky our son has a spot at CCP. The staff are wonderful and warm, and are very supportive of Rufus as he develops. They provide a highly stimulating environment -  lots of exciting activities available, and regular trips offsite, music and sports, all tailored to 3-5 year olds. The relatively small size of the centre means strong relationships with teachers and other children flourish. But the best indicator of all is that Rufus adores his teachers and absolutely loves going to preschool.

Our daughter came to Capital City Preschool from another childcare centre, and we were delighted to see how quickly she blossomed in her new environment. The teaching team at CCP have a real focus on guiding children towards the independence and resilience required for a successful start at school, and we immediately noticed our daughter’s self-confidence start to grow as a result of this. The team are also great at noticing and building on the children’s own interests and passions, and again we have been thrilled to see our daughter’s artistic and creative skills develop through the tailored activities the preschool provides to extend her interests.

For an inner-city preschool it really surprised me that CCP has such a family-like and supportive atmosphere, and I’ve always found the staff incredibly responsive and communicative about where my child is at, both intellectually and socially. Their use of Educa to provide daily photos and commentary about preschool activities allows us to know what she’s been up to each day, and we have really valued the opportunities for engagement with her that Educa provides. Lastly, the school holiday programme at preschool is amazing! I highly recommend Capital City Preschool to anyone looking for high quality central city childcare in a welcoming and stimulating environment.

“The stand out for me is the focus on getting out and about, and engaging with the community”

Capital City is such a warm and friendly place – the teachers are great and my boys love coming. The stand out for me is the focus on getting out and about, and engaging with the community – visiting the library, music and lots of expeditions like train rides, fire-stations, parks, etc. Also, I really love how they seem to make a real effort to treat children as individuals, and support them to learn by following their interests.

“If only I could tell every parent what a wonderful preschool Capital City is…….”

I think we have been extremely lucky as we have been able to provide both our daughters with the opportunity of being able to attend this fabulous preschool.

We had not heard much of Capital City Preschool, as we were based in Melbourne at the time and I found them on the internet.  This was back in 2006. But I liked what I saw and read and on the second day after we moved from Melbourne I came and visited the school.  Blown away by the organisation of the day, the teachers passionate attitudes I knew I found a great school for Ava.

It was more so as the months went along, I saw Ava grow in her language skills her joy of attending Preschool. This was a complete turnaround from her early days spent in day care.  Ava was so interactive at preschool. The teachers were always encouraging her and focused on her loves. They even put on a ‘writing party’ for her one day. Ava’s love for writing first began at Preschool and the teachers were quick to further enhance her love of it.

By the time Ava was ready to start school, she was very confident in knowing how the school day operated. The ringing of the bell, lunch time procedures, quite times and lessons.

Then having to move back to Melbourne we had our second child in 2008. Come 2012 we had to move back to Wellington again. The most exciting part of the move was that our 3 year old Lauren now gets to have this same wonderful experience that Ava had.  Again I have watched Lauren over the past 3-4 months since starting show greater confidence and her language skills improve.

I love the way the teachers show passion for their job and for the children. The freedom of play time and structured learning time is a great balance. Lauren and Ava love the trips to the city library, parks and Te Papa. The Holiday Programs are a great bonus, and the kids look forward to each day. Day Care suited a purpose, but Capital City Preschool offers growth and encouragement.

If only I could tell every parent what a wonderful preschool Capital City is.

Our thanks go to all the teachers for the best start to their school life; I can’t thank them enough for what they have done for our girls.

BIG THANK YOU

“He has also developed an interest in practising alphabets and learning numbers.”

Once we decided to move to Wellington, NZ from Cambridge, UK ,  we had started searching the right ‘right’ childcare place for Dennis.  Shortly after our arrival, Dennis and I had visited a few of childcare centres in Wellington. Initially, we were not quite happy with the standard of the childcare centres we visited. They were either too crowded or not up to the standard we were expecting. Capital City Preschool was certainly an exception! The staff were very welcoming and everything was well organised. Dennis was very happy and he had immediately started running around and playing! I was quite attracted by the teachers who were sitting around children and were conducting different kinds of group activities. In the meantime, Andrina (one of the school teachers) was showing me around the Preschool with great enthusiasm - not only the Preschool’s teaching philosophy, programme but also children’s development and their relationship with families. On the way home, Dennis and I talked about what we liked about the Preschool. It was a quick decision. I telephoned my husband and said: ‘We’ve found a nice school for Dennis’.

Dennis has been in the school since March 2012. He loves to go to the Preschool everyday without any effort on our side.  He has learnt how to build up friendships with children whom he has just met. He has lots of good friends at the preschool, and we constantly learn about their names at home. He enjoys ‘news time’ where he can share his toys/books/games in front of children in the Preschool, and we really enjoy discussing what he wants to take to the Preschool for his news time.  He has also developed an interest in practising alphabets and learning numbers. He loves to share his experiences with us about his gym (mini-mover) and music classes.

The Preschool provides a good balance of structure and free learning for Dennis, which has assisted Dennis in developing his independence and confidence in his early life. We are very pleased to find the Capital City Preschool for Dennis. Highly recommended!
